His Sweet Surprise  Music & Lyrics

“Your Love Is Cold”

Nothing can stop me from feeling this way

Feeling that you never loved me

Cried in my night and I cried in my day

All this because how I loved you

But now the crying’s done

No tears fall down my face

Because I’ve learned with grace

Your love is cold

Your love is cold

Nobody knows

Your love is cold

And you don’t really love me like you should

Oh your love is cold and that’s no good

Your precious perfection has torn us in two

People are people forever

Think less of what I am think more of the who

And then maybe we’ll be together

But when I needed love

It wasn’t there for me

Now it is plain to see

Your love is cold

Your love is cold

Nobody knows

Your love is cold

And you don’t really love me like you should

Oh your love is cold and that’s no good

Maybe tomorrow up high on a hill

You’ll understand all this sorrow

But for the times we’ve shared

Those broken yesterdays

We must part come what may

Your love

Is cold

Your love is cold

Nobody knows

Your love is cold

And you don’t really love me like you should

Oh your love is cold and that’s no good

No good

You were never no good

But for the time we’ve shared

Those broken yesterdays

We must part come what may

Your love

Is cold

Your love is cold

Nobody knows

Your love is cold

Your love is cold

Your love is cold

Nobody knows

Your love is cold

Another favourite from my busking days. This song is a particular mix of styles with the synth trying to act as a taster for the next track on the album, Alone On Mars. It was a deliberate arrangement to fuse electronic and guitar sound, but why do I now keep thinking of The Smiths when I had something entirely different in mind?!!! Lyrics have stayed the same since the song was first written circa 1993. It’s a cautionary tale about staying in a relationship when you know the other person doesn’t care about you the same way or treat you with respect. All they are concerned about are keeping up appearances. But in this song the person decides they have the strength to move on, even though it’s painful.
